You've probably heard the phrase "the last mile" in connection with broadband. This refers to how the internet gets to you, on the last leg of the journey.
Chebeague has two (Axiom and Fairpoint) substantial "pipes" of data coming into the D Slam (large connection box next to The Clam Shack)
But from there, both providers use the same "pipes" to sent it "the last mile" to your house.
Fairpoint owns the pipes.
The challenge is that the "Pipes" are old style copper which has greater resistance to data flow, than Fiber Optic Cables.
So, both providers use the same "pipes" for "the last mile" getting internet to your house.
